Brooklyn Clubhouse
The Brooklyn Clubhouse provides valuable social and vocational opportunities, support from peer advocates, and assistance in developing critical life coping skills and work readiness.
Clubhouse members are encouraged to find their own voice, recognize their strengths and utilize available supports to facilitate their own recovery.The Clubhouse offers GED and basic computer training, as well as training in food service, facilities maintenance, computer applications and office skills. Additional trainings are peer-driven, based on the needs and interests of members.Members participate in work teams, performing the cleaning, cooking and clerical work required to operate and maintain the Clubhouse. Members also participate in the recruitment and orientation of new members, hiring staff and organizing activities.
The Peer Advocate Program provides outreach, advocacy and supportive services to people with mental illness through the Brooklyn Clubhouse. Peer Advocates also act as liaisons to peer advocacy groups in the community and represent their peers in grassroots advocacy activities.
The Brooklyn Clubhouse is also home to the Project P.R.E.P.A.R.E. Peer Training Program.
