D’Arrigo Brothers Funds Paws Of War For Service Dogs For Veterans

Brian Pacella, Outreach Specialist at S:US’ Supportive Services for Veteran Families program, received a service dog named Suzy from Paws of War, an organization that matches service dogs with veterans, during a press conference and ceremony held at the American Armor Museum in Old Bethpage, New York.

Pacella served in the Military Police in Iraq. Pappas, a Naval Corpsman, served in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart and retired from the FDNY as a Two-Star Chief. Carrozzo, a U.S. Navy Petty Officer, was deployed to Iraq three times.
D’Arrigo Brothers of New York, one of the nation’s largest distributors of fresh fruits and vegetables, made a $15,000 contribution, which underwrote the training of three service dogs that Port Jefferson-based Paws of War presented to three U.S. combat military veterans who served on the frontlines and now suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
