S:US Helps Keep NY Green
Volunteers from PIMCO partner with S:US for MillionTreesNYC project.
Did you know that trees remove dust and other pollutants from the air? In fact, one tree can remove 26 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere annually, the equivalent of 11,000 miles of car emissions.* It was this and many other health and environmental benefits that prompted the New York Restoration Project (NYRP) to embark on the ambitious MillionTreesNYC project.
Today, NYRP announced the successful completion of the project, with one million new trees planted throughout the city in partnership with NYC Parks & Recreation. And S:US is proud to announce that we also helped keep New York green through our participation in this project.
Over the past three years S:US residents worked with volunteers to increase New York’s urban forest by planting and maintaining trees we received from NYRP in the backyards of S:US residences throughout Brooklyn.
S:US has also adopted a dozen street trees as part of the project’s ongoing stewardship, with residents now caring for the trees located outside seven of our residences.
