Celebrating Black History Month

February is Black History Month, a dedicated period honoring Black voices and achievements, and an opportunity to reflect on the role of African Americans throughout U.S. history.

Since 1978, S:US has supported people and communities that have been marginalized, communities of color, communities impacted by poverty, people with developmental disabilities and their families, people with mental health and addiction challenges, and people with histories of incarceration. We embrace diversity and work to advance social justice and racial equity. We recognize that everyone who comes to us for services experiences a unique set of challenges, often compounded by a chronic lack of opportunity, made worse in many instances by systemic societal injustices. We create opportunities that generate permanent, positive change in the lives of thousands of our city’s most underserved individuals and families.

We will highlight the contributions of the Black community in areas that are relevant to our work throughout the month.
