On June 5, 2023, the first public health vending machine in NYC launched at the S:US supportive housing located at 1676 Broadway in Brooklyn, in partnership with New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. S:US’ public health vending machine is a free, community-wide resource. In addition to harm reduction tools for people who have substance use issues, the machine will also stock everyday health items, including COVID-19 tests, masks, feminine hygiene products, condoms, and more. NYC and S:US share a common goal to ensure that the public health vending machine has a positive benefit on the surrounding community.
We’re grateful to New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Commissioner Ashwin Vasan, MD, PhD and his staff, S:US Opioid Overdose Program Director Elan Quashie and his staff, and our community for creating life-changing opportunities for New Yorkers.
