Honoring DSPs on Direct Support Professional Recognition Week

September 7-13 is Direct Support Professional (DSP) Recognition Week–a time to showcase the amazing and often unsung work of these incredible professionals. The people who receive our services continue to have enriching and rewarding lives, thanks in large part to our DSPs’ care and compassion.

We’re thrilled to share that one of our own DSPs, Mandisha “Nickey” Green, was recently awarded Direct Support Professional (DSP) of the Year by the New York State Association of Day Service Providers. Please join us in applauding Nickey on her amazing recognition!

We’re also excited to share that Geneira Poulis, S:US Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS), was a guest on the podcast DSP Talk. Geneira emphasized the importance of including DSPs in the creation process, describing them as the backbone of behavior support plans, and illustrating how their firsthand experience, insights, and daily interactions with individuals can significantly enhance the efficacy and relevance of these plans. Learn more by listening to the full episode.

DSPs, thank you for everything you do for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities and their families. While this week is DSP Recognition Week, we are thankful every day and full of praise for you.

Please celebrate our DSPs, they are invaluable to our mission and the people we serve!
