Celebrating Direct Support Professionals
Direct Support Professional Recognition Week is celebrated on September 12-18 this year. We would like to take a moment to celebrate our DSPs, who are the hearts and souls of supports for people with disabilities. We appreciate DSPs this week and always!
People with intellectual/developmental disabilities rely on the care of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). DSPs help them with essential daily functions, medication administration, nutrition recommendations, domestic chores, understanding COVID-19 safety, and keeping their spirits up with fun activities. They also help people learn how to do things for themselves. It is because of their care and compassion that those who receive our services continue to have enriching and rewarding lives.
Watch a short video clip from NY Alliance as they describe the life-changing work that S:US DSP Shanika Rogers does day in and day out for the people she supports.
