Celebrating the People Behind S:US Urban Farms

S:US Urban Farms® would not be possible without the dedicated Urban Farmers whose hard work, talent, and commitment help our gardens, green spaces, and communities thrive.
To recognize their contributions, we hosted an appreciation ceremony honoring Noel (15 years), Missy (15 years), Rhonda (13 years), Valerie (13 years), April (11 years), and Angelo (10 years) for their years of service and the lasting impact they have made through the program.
Together, they have helped advance the mission of S:US Urban Farms by cultivating green spaces, promoting sustainability, and strengthening communities across New York City. Their dedication, expertise, and passion have been instrumental to the program’s growth and success.
The celebration was especially meaningful as Noel, an Urban Farmer with an intellectual/developmental disability, was recognized for 15 years of employment with Services for the UnderServed. During the ceremony, he received a certificate from the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) honoring this significant milestone. We are grateful to OPWDD for helping celebrate Noel’s accomplishments and longstanding contributions to Urban Farms.
We proudly congratulate Noel, Missy, Rhonda, Valerie, April, and Angelo on their employment milestones and thank all of our Urban Farmers for the dedication and excellence they bring to their work every day. Their achievements demonstrate the power of inclusive employment opportunities and the extraordinary things that can grow when people are supported to build meaningful, long-term careers.
