Congratulations to S:US Chief Program Officer Monica Santos for being recognized among City & State’s 2023 Above & Beyond: Women. The list identifies the 50 remarkable women who are improving New York.

For more than four decades, S:US has worked with vulnerable individuals and families in New York, helping them escape poverty and create pathways to rich, productive lives. Monica Santos manages shelter, housing, clinical and treatment support services, and oversees approximately 1,000 staff.

Monica Santos is a lifelong advocate for people with disabilities and other challenges, ensuring that everyone can lead a life with dignity and respect. She is a strong proponent of social justice and health equity, working tirelessly to create opportunities for all. Monica spearheaded the creation of S:US’ Community Fridge project because food insecurity is rising at an alarming rate. The project also provides meaningful work for people with disabilities, who are the fridge stewards and replenish pantry and food items a few times a week in service to their communities.

The S:US board, staff and our community join in congratulating Monica Santos on this well-deserved recognition!
