S:US Celebrates Earth Day

In commemorating Earth Day, we hosted two volunteer events:  One on Saturday and another on Earth Day, both held at our supportive housing residences in East Harlem, Manhattan.

Our Saturday community volunteers removed old bedframes, repurposed the wood to build flooring for the shed, weeded, and mulched the garden. Beyond the produce harvested each year from the garden, our supportive housing residents spend much of their time in their backyard, socializing with their neighbors. It’s their oasis away from the city’s stresses. Click here for more photos.

On Earth Day, the corporate volunteer group from Orveon moved bags and bags of soil and mulch, spread mulch, and built new raised beds for our residents to grow vegetables. Click here for more photos.
