S:US Hosts Virtual Topping Off Ceremony for Starhill Phase I

On September 28th, Services for the UnderServed (S:US) joined representatives of Bronx Pro Group for a virtual topping off ceremony for their supportive/affordable housing residence, Starhill Phase I. Scheduled to be open in February 2025, the residence will create 326 affordable apartments, including 200 supportive, in the Morris Heights section of the Bronx.  On-site support services will be provided by S:US funded by the Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI) through New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS).

Arlo Chase, Senior Vice President of Real Estate & Property Development at S:US opened the ceremony and said,“Over the past fifteen years, S:US has demonstrated unwavering dedication to creating safe and stable housing options for New Yorkers most in need. With the addition of Starhill Phase I and the upcoming Alafia Phase I, slated for completion in 2025, S:US will oversee a remarkable 3,000 units of owned and operated homes. This milestone is a testament to the organization’s commitment to expanding its housing portfolio and meeting the evolving needs of the community.”

Building amenities include a backyard, an urban farm, a recreational area on a second-floor terrace, a fitness center, a game room, a children’s playroom, 24-hour security, and laundry facilities.

Funding for Starhill Phase I comes from tax exempt bond proceeds, low-income housing tax credit and subsidy loans provided by, New York State Homes and Community Renewal, and subsidy loans provided New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD).

The general contractor is Home Builders, an affiliate of Bronx Pro, and the architect is Marvel Architects.
