Two years ago, we launched the first community fridge in Bushwick, Brooklyn, in partnership with State Senator Julia Salazar. Since then, we’ve been working to make nutritious food more accessible for everyone, especially as food insecurity continues to rise. “As the number of people facing poverty and food insecurity rises across our city, we need community initiatives that work closely with the people whose needs are most often overlooked,” said Senator Salazar. We couldn’t agree more! These fridges are a crucial step toward creating stronger, more connected communities.

Thanks to the support of our community, we’ve been able to expand our mission, and with continued funding, we plan to bring more fridges to neighborhoods across all five boroughs. Through our Urban Farms program, we’re also filling these fridges with fresh, homegrown produce, offering a vital service and a meaningful opportunity for those in our programs to give back.
