S:US Receives A HEROES Grant
In October 2015 S:US received a CSAT (Center for Substance Abuse and Treatment) grant from SAMSHA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) to provide housing to 150 homeless individuals including chronically-homeless veterans. The grant will also help chronically-homeless non-veterans who have a history of substance use or co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. The program will assist 105 veterans and 45 non-veterans into secure housing in NYC.
S:US has dubbed this 3-year $1.2 M grant H.E.R.O.E.S. (Housing, Employment, Resilience, Opportunities, Economic Stability).
The project who will be administered by a program director (who transferred from our Veterans Employment team), a clinical social worker and two peer staff. And On March 24 this team will be hosting a program kick-off to welcome participants.
