Celebrating Our Volunteers

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month and April 20-26 is National Volunteer Week. At S:US, we are grateful to all our volunteers for supporting our community. Volunteers work alongside staff to provide additional support to the people we serve.
From corporate groups and community-based organizations to individual contributors, we appreciate every single person who adds value to our work. Volunteers help wrap presents for our Holiday Gift Project, teach participants how to apply for jobs, lead yoga classes and other wellness events, work in the gardens with Urban Farms, and more. All these activities are essential to helping individuals and families served by S:US lead full and enriched lives.
Join us on April 26 for Earth Day as we renovate the backyard at one of our group homes for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (in Hollis, Queens). Some tasks include building raised bed frames and a 48 ft. long-raised garden bed and constructing two arch trellises. If there’s enough time, we’ll also plant gooseberries, figs, currants, blueberries, and strawberries.
Thank you to all our volunteers for adding value to our work in supporting New Yorkers in need!
