Meet Siona, S:US’ Americorps/NYC Civic Service Member

Siona Schmid with Holiday Gift Project volunteers and Minjung Park, S:US Director of Volunteer & Community Relations
Siona Schmid is an AmeriCorps/NYC Civic Service Member serving with the Services for the UnderServed (S:US) starting in the Fall of 2025. She brings a strong background in community engagement, social impact communications, and volunteer coordination, and plays a key role in strengthening S:US’ volunteer initiatives across New York City. In her current work, she helps organize major volunteer projects—including our annual Holiday Gift Project—and supports the management of in‑kind donations that directly benefit the individuals and families S:US serves.
Originally from Germany, Siona holds a bachelor’s degree in business communication management from HTW Berlin – University of Applied Sciences. She has contributed her skills to several social justice organizations, including Doctors Without Borders and Über den Tellerrand (“Beyond the Plate”), a community‑building initiative that connects immigrants and local residents. She later joined GoVolunteer, Germany’s largest volunteer agency, where she created content that encouraged people to engage in social and environmental causes.
After moving to the United States, Siona continued her commitment to service by supporting the Allies for Immigrants program at English for New Bostonians, helping strengthen volunteer engagement and expand access to community‑based learning opportunities. Now at S:US, she is excited to continue fostering meaningful, community‑driven volunteer experiences.
