Never Give Up!

On September 24, Katie Leach, Substance Use Counselor from S:US’ Starhill transitional residence joined with 25 Starhill residents to take part in a 5K run to raise awareness for drug and alcohol addiction.
The run, sponsored by Odyssey House, is an annual event with participants from treatment programs across NYC, including S:US’ Treatment program at Starhill. This year’s 5K run was called Run For Your Life/Recovery Walk and our residents not only enjoyed the walk but also learned how to have fun while staying clean and sober. As each resident crossed the finish line they were awarded with a medal, and the glow of happiness on their faces was priceless.
Some of the lessons the residents learned from taking part in this event are: there is life after addiction, we are all winners, and never give up!
