Services for the UnderServed, along with the city’s Department of Housing Preservation Development celebrated the completion Tuesday of a $47 million affordable and supporting housing development in Fordham.

Fourteen units at the Morris Avenue apartment complex are dedicated to formerly homeless adults with mental illness. Seventeen others are dedicated to people who have aged out of the foster care system.

The complex also provides on-site support, like job placement and financial planning.

Juan Tavarez, who was formerly homeless and has a mental condition, says he feels “very blessed” to call the new complex home.

All 94 apartments have been filled, but S:US has more information on how to be placed in affordable housing.
