Residential Substance Abuse Treatment
Services for the Underserved, Inc. (S:US) offers residential treatment series for people experiencing a substance use disorder. Services include social/psychological counseling, vocational and educational services, employment services, medical, health care and community referrals and assistance in finding permanent housing.
S:US charges a fee for the services it provides based on the budgeted cost for that service. Admission to S:US is not based upon a person’s ability to pay or not on eligibility for third party benefits. However, S:US must determine whether you have the ability to pay, in whole or in part, for the services provided to you. Therefore, S:US will decide on the fee to be paid, using a sliding fee scale, after the admission process is completed and a decision to admit you has been made.
We will first determine whether you are eligible for benefits. As eligibility for these benefits means you are unable to pay, your eligibility would mean we could not ask you to pay a fee. If you are not eligible for benefits, S:US will determine whether you are able to pay a fee. You will be advised in writing, of this policy and of the decision itself.
If you are deemed a self-pay participant, meaning a participant who has assets prior to admission to the program and can afford to pay for residential treatment, will be charged the appropriate amount for treatment as referred to in the Welfare or Social Security Administration distribution information form. However, if you become employed while in treatment and are deemed a Client Fee Participant, a fee per session will be determined by salary. Participants will be informed by the Single Point Access (SPA) staff that he or she needs to bring proof of their financial status. This should include income from:
- Net wages and tips
- Social Security Administration (SSI, SSP and SSDI)
- Pensions
- Annuities
- Veterans Administration
- Net business or self-employment
- Alimony
- Child Support
- Military
- Unemployment
- Public Aid
