S:US Wears Purple on 2022 Purple Thursday
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. S:US operates two domestic violence shelters in New York City, offering respite and sanctuary for women, men, and their children who have experienced domestic violence. We provide counseling, supportive services, and a place where individuals and families can feel safe and secure so they can rebuild their lives.
Purple Thursday is a National Day of Action that occurs on the third Thursday in October during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. On October 20, S:US staff and people served wore purple to raise awareness for survivors of domestic violence. This is a simple, yet meaningful way to show support and raise awareness for this important cause.
